‘and in those waves were all the colors of the world’
Jonas Loellmann
Blue Projects presents ‘and in those waves were all the colors of the world’, a solo exhibition of colour photographs by Jonas Loellmann. Composed of abstract compositions and images of the natural world, the exhibition is focused on the experience of a moment and how a potential for transcendence and emotions can be found in visual perception.
Loellmann travels to different coastal locations, working in and around these areas and seeking places to surf, using the ocean and its surroundings as a recurrent motif. These subjects are presented as combinations of fixed-point contemplations and abstract immersions, absorbing the viewer into a shifting environment of saturated, auric hues in which subjects become forms that enable an experience. Throughout the exhibition, the horizon line serves as an underlying theme, creating a sense of slippage into and across different states of mind and feeling.
Loellmann surrenders his own notion of how things should be and opens himself up to possibility, allowing for an interaction between photographic material and the physical world to capture an encounter. He is interested in the hidden vibrations and energies that exist around us, using analogue techniques as part of an intentional process to explore a dialogue between inner and outer perception.
The exhibition includes a text written by Jonas Loellmann that accompanies this body of work.
The title of the exhibition is inspired by a poem by Anne-Linde Dejong.
