Alexis Gautier 'Okhaldhunga' (2015) handwoven and handbuilt tapestry in natural wool made with local craftspeople using traditional techniques in Lamjung Bhujung, Nepal. Exhibited as part of Blue Projects' inaugural exhibition Stairs, Zebra, Bees and Light Purple Jackets by Alexis Gautier in 2018.
Created using a specialised process of weaving on a back loom and felting the textile over a period of two days. All colouring is natural wool. The graphic pattern is woven into the textile, featuring a zigzag stair motif and geometric block border.
Features cream body, integrated grey and black marl motifs, graphic geometric border, selvedge edge, and incorporated fringe finish.
